Master of Community & Regional Planning Degree
The Master of Community & Regional Planning (MCRP) degree program is a Graduate Degree program in Community and Regional Planning, which is nationally accredited by the Planning Accreditation Board.
Dual Degree Programs
The MCRP degree is offered as part of three dual degree graduate programs at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. The dual degree programs currently offered through the Community and Regional Planning Program include:
MCRP/JD - Master of Community and Regional Planning / Juris Doctor
The MCRP/JD dual degree program is offered in collaboration with the College of Law at UNL. This program enables completion of both the MCRP degree and the Juris Doctor degree within a four-year duration of full time study.
MCRP/MArch - Master of Community and Regional Planning / Master of Architecture
The MCRP/MArch dual degree program is offered in collaboration with the UNL Architecture Program. This program enables completion of both the MCRP degree and the Master of Architecture degree within a three-year duration of full time study. This program is intended solely for persons who hold the Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies (BSAS) degree or equivalent undergraduate degree
MCRP/MSCE - Master of Community and Regional Planning / Master of Science in Civil Engineering
The MCRP/MSCE dual degree program is offered in collaboration with the UNL Department of Civil Engineering. This program enables completion of both the MCRP degree and MS in Civil Engineering (transportation specialization) in two and one-half years of full-time study. This program is intended for persons who hold a BS in Civil Engineering or equivalent degree.
Interdepartmental Areas of Specialization
The Community and Regional Planning Program cooperates with other University of Nebraska-Lincoln academic departments in offering three Interdepartmental areas of specialization : Environmental Studies, Great Plains Studies, and Water Resources Planning and Management.
Completion of requirements for an Interdepartmental Area is noted on the student's official course transcript. Persons interested in pursuing one of the Interdepartmental Areas should review the requirements that are described in the Graduate Studies Bulletin or inquire at the office of the Community and Regional Planning Program .
Coursework requirements for the MCRP degree program
The Coursework for the MCRP degree program requires completion of 48 graduate credit hours. In some instances, a maximum of 3 prerequisites will also be required to overcome deficiencies in Sociology, Economics and/or Statsitics.
